Established residential millwork and interior design manufacturer is seeking a Design Draftsperson-Millwork.

To meet current and projected demand for product this operation is expanding the shop floor and integrating the entire design, engineering, drawing, programming, and floor production process from concept to installation. This is an excellent career opportunity for a skilled technical specialist with a solid track record doing design drawings in a custom millwork environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Design team to engineer and create accurate drawings of assemblies, casework, panels, and other architectural woodwork components based on supplied dimensions, sketches and estimating data, using in-house CAD software, AutoCAD, SketchUp and other drawing software
  • Adhere to required project specifications, building codes, AWMAC and other industry standards as specified
  • Create bill of materials and cut lists with full integration with costing and materials ordering systems
  • Work with Estimating and other staff to help prepare preliminary bid packages
  • Work with Project Management to proactively identify and resolve technical issues and challenges that may interfere with timely completion of projects
  • Work directly with Production staff in programming for downstream automated production with full integration and optimization to ensure efficient production, assist in resolving any production machine programming issues that may arise
  • Look for opportunities to protect or improve project margins through innovation and best practices

To fully qualify for and be successful in this position you must have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the production environment of a medium to large millwork manufacturer - ideally with some level of hands-on experience (machining, assembly etc.)
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD or similar design software in a Millwork, Casework or Woodwork type environment
  • Experience with general office software (eg Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings/bid documents and conceptualize projects accurately
  • Detail oriented and organized - with an ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Team player with an ability to work with others effectively and respectfully
  • Excellent communication skills in English - both oral and written
  • A personal drive to reach your development potential as a design/drafting professional
